A Southern Appalachian Christmas is showing December 8-18, 2022 here at Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre!
In this holiday musical set right here in WNC, Sara hasn’t been home for Christmas since she moved to New York six years ago. Now, for the first time in years, Sara is back in her hometown, celebrating with the family and friends she left behind. During this visit, she learns exactly what’s most important to her and gains a new respect for where she came from. It’s a story of love, hope, and cheer during the holiday season.
We reached out to Alexis Brooke Stephens to find out more about her and her experience working on this production.
Tell us about your character. What’s your favorite thing about them? What do you love about getting to portray them?
My character is Mary Beth. She's super sweet, knowledgeable, and a bit sassy at times. I love being able to combine these three things and being able to show her character growth throughout the show.
How did you get into theatre?
I got into theatre around seventh grade when I first listened to Wicked! Although, I also got to hand it to my parents who gave me the privilege to be in church plays when I was younger.
What’s your favorite part about performing?
I love that I'm able to portray a character and bringing them to life. It's empowering in a way.
Do you have any upcoming projects we should check out?
Yes! I'll be in some of MHU's spring shows! I'll be portraying 'Esther' in A Moments Notice and will be Assistant Stage Manager for Sweet Charity!
