2026 Summer Stock Theatre Internship Program
Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre (SART) is seeking six dedicated and passionate college students to join our 2026 Summer Stock Internship Company. This immersive program offers hands-on experience in professional regional theatre while serving the vibrant artistic community of the Appalachian region.

All interns will receive a $125 weekly stipend and housing for the duration of the summer season.

Program Overview
The SART Summer Internship is designed to provide real-world experience in a professional theatre environment. Interns will collaborate with directors, designers, actors, and production staff while contributing meaningfully to the season’s productions.
In addition to supporting SART’s mainstage season, interns will:

Perform in/ run (bi)Weekly Cabaret Showcase – Saturdays with SART

Participate Chekov Intensive with Janice Schreiber or Tech Apprenticeship with SART’s Technical Director

Special Training Opportunity
Performance interns will participate in an acting intensive:
Chekhov Intensive with Janice Schreiber
This focused training workshop will explore Chekhov technique, character development, and ensemble-based performance practices under the guidance of respected theatre professional Janice Schreiber.
Technical interns will gain specialized experience:
Technical Apprenticeship to Mainstage Technical Director
Technical interns will gain hands-on experience working alongside professional theatre technicians in lighting, sound, construction, and design. Interns will collaborate directly with the season’s Mainstage Technical Director and production team, serving as assistants and active contributors throughout the process.

Auditions and Interviews
Date: Self Tape (Performance) and Video Calls (Tech)
Performance interns will be required to submit a self tape. Technical interns will be asked to submit a portfolio (if applicable) and interview.
