About Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre
For 52 years, Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre has been a cultural cornerstone of Mars Hill, NC and the greater Asheville region—producing professional-quality theatre that reflects, celebrates, and challenges the communities it serves. From world premieres rooted in Appalachian heritage to boundary-pushing new works and beloved American classics, SART has always believed that great theatre belongs to everyone: every background, everygeneration, every age. The stage does not discriminate. Neither do we.
Casting for certain productions has already been accomplished. However, there are still open roles available for seasoned actors, and more information on auditions will be posted on this site soon.

PREPARE: Come prepared with a comedic monologue.
CAST: 3 Women/ 3 Men
SYNOPSIS: Women and men in outrageous shorts! This fast-paced rollicking collection of short plays featuring funny females and madly misbehaving men is a laugh-out-loud adventure for all. You’ll encounter women who are brilliant, baffling and know a conscience is what hurts when other parts feel sooo good. And you’ll find men who are confident, strong and so brave to dare to drink water. Just to surprise their livers.
These delightful short plays build to a rip-roaring climax. In short, you’ll experience the story of all our lives, which boils down to “we knew better, but we did it anyway.” Without a doubt, LICKETY SPLIT is side-splitting hilarious!
PERFORMANCE DATES -Thursday- Sunday, July 16-19 and July 23-26, 2026. Owen Theatre on the campus of Mars Hill University.
