Actor Spotlight: Madison Brightwell

Take a journey with a disgruntled aging couple revisiting their roots in Southern Appalachia in the new play, Milestones showing at Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre June 9-19, 2022. Each twist and turn in the road leads this couple towards forgiveness and healing. Written by Gale Gooch Alexander, and set in the very mountains Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre calls home. We reached out to Milestones actor Madison Brightwell to find out more about her and her experience working on this production.


What is your favorite line in this show?


"Peace is a gift I gave myself."


Tell us about your character.


I love that she writes poetry.


How did you get into theatre?


I've been involved in theater for almost 50 years, since I was 16 years old!


What’s your favorite thing to do in the area?


Hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway


What about this production are you the most excited about?


Working at this theater and with this fun cast!


What’s your favorite part about performing?


I love the rehearsal process and exploring my character.


Do you have any upcoming projects we should check out?


Yes, I will be playing Shirley Valentine at BMCA in September.


Biography


Madison has been in the Asheville area for three years now, and she is a

bsolutely thrilled to be involved in this production of "Milestones" at SART. After acting for 20 years in her native Britain, Madison spent 20 years living in Los Angeles and working in film and TV production. She now works as an online therapist, and spends her free time gardening, hiking, taking care of her husband and cat, and acting in plays! Favorite roles include Lady Macbeth in "Macbeth" and Mrs. Dolly Levi in "The Matchmaker". While living here she has done shows at the HART in Waynesville, the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, the Diana Wortham Theater, and the Montford Park Players.
