MEET THE CAST
Jennifer O’Rear is thrilled to be back on the SART stage! She earned her B.A. in Theatre Arts with a concentration in acting from Mars Hill University. Some of her past credits include: Myrtle Mae in Harvey (SART), Sammy in The First Baptist of Ivy Gap (SART), Mrs. Squires in The Music Man (Flat Rock Playhouse), Maddie in Desperate Affection (Ensemble Stage), Pheobe in As You Like It (SART), Mrs. Darling in Peter Pan (Flat Rock Playhouse) Athena Pine/Moll/Chorus in Vance: Civil War Governor (SART), Snow White in Snow White and Rose Red (Mother Goose Troupe). She would like to thank her family and friends for their never-ending love and support.
Lee Wilson is making his SART debut this season. His previous credits include Beautiful Star, Crimes of the Heart, Alls Well that Ends Well (Triad Stage), Periphery (CTG), She Kills Monsters, Cloud Nine, Cabaret, Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (UNCG). Thanks to my wife Natalie, our families, and the SART community.
Pastor Mervin Oglethorpe
Joshua is a veteran of the SART stage. He joyously considers it his stage home, as it is the house where he began his professional career. Roles with SART include You Can't Take It With You (Tony), The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (Aslan), Kiss Me Kate (Dance Captain), and most recently Smoke on the Mountain: Homecoming (Pastor Mervin Oglethorpe). Other credits include oseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Joseph) for which he won best actor, The Secret Garden (Dr. Neville Craven), Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd), You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Charlie Brown), Guys and Dolls (Nicely Nicely Johnson), The King and I (Lun Tha), The Sound of Music (Captain Von Trapp), The Fantasticks (Matt, the Boy), Bye Bye Birdie (Conrad Birdie), Grease (Roger), Scrooge (Fred), The Pirates of Penzance (The Pirate King), The Mikado (Pooh Bah), HMS Pinafore (Ralph).
Natalie Wilson is excited to be making her SART debut. Her previous credits include Common Enemy (Triad Stage), The Wizard of Oz, Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh (Barter Theatre), Twelfth Night, Machinal, From Up Here, Cabaret(UNCG). Thanks to my husband Lee and the rest of my family, and everyone at SART!
PEM PRICE TOMASELLI
Pem is thrilled to be returning to the SART stage. She last graced the stage in First Baptist of Ivy Gap as Edith. Pem has been a company member of SART since the 80s, you may remember from Radio Gals (actor and director),
The Boys Next Door (Sheila),
Showboat (Parthy), The Trip to Bountiful (Jesse Mae Watts) and
Lettice and Lovage (Lotte) Pem has recently relocated to Asheville from Texas with her furbabies and her husband Mark. Pem is looking forward to being in many more shows on the Owen stage.
Jeff Messer has been a long time supporter of SART and all the areas theatres. Jeff is thrilled to be joining the cast of Sanders Family Christmas. You may have seen Jeff's work at neighboring theaters this summer. He is thrilled to be apart of the rebuilding of SART.
Lyn Nihart (Stanley) is happy to be returning to SART. His past credits include PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES, A TENNESSEE WALK (world premiere), BLITHE SPIRIT, PUTTING IT TOGETHER, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, and A NEW TRUCK FOR PAULIE (world premiere). Lyn is a graduate of Mars Hill University with a degree in theatre education. He currently teaches theatre at Charles D. Owen High School.
Brad Curtioff, has dedicated his career to music making. While growing up in York, PA, he was active in the choir, handbell choir, and as a piano accompanist. He continued his music studies at the Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore, MD, then collegiately at West Virginia University, in Morgantown, WV. While pursuing a piano performance degree, he served as pianist and organist for St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Weirton, WV. Following college, Mr. Curtioff relocated to the Asheville, NC area, where he now keeps busy with a variety of musical endeavors. In addition to serving at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church as music director, he is a faculty accompanist at Mars Hill University, accompanist for both the Asheville Choral Society and the Southern Appalachian Chamber Singers, and musical director for a variety of theatre happenings around WNC. He also keeps a teaching studio, and can be heard performing blues, jazz and rock music with local bands Citizen Mojo and the Red Deco Club. He resides in Walnut, NC with his wife and daughter.
Tia is a student in the theatre department of Mars Hill University. She was recently in the university's production of Ruthless. Most recently with SART, she was the stage manager, et al for Hard Travelin' with Woody. Tia looks forward to many more productions with SART as she begins her professional career after she graduates.
